Privacy Statement

The University of Western Australia (the University) is committed to protecting your personal privacy and our practices are in compliance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (WA). The personal details provided by you will be used to register you as a user of this site. If you apply for a position at the University, only your name, contact details and application documents will be available to the recruiters. 

Please read this statement carefully. In submitting an application or registering interest for employment with the University you will be required to provide the University with personal information, including application data and contact details ('your information').

Date of Birth and Gender information will:

·         not be available to the recruiters when assessing your application. 

·         be available to HR Staff (including system administrators) and may be used to verify your account or enable the generation of appointment documentation should you be considered the preferred applicant for the role.

Information you provide through the eRecruitment process is collected for the primary purpose of assessing and administering your application for employment in accordance with the University's recruitment and administrative practices (including conducting reference checks). The information may also be used for a related secondary purpose in circumstances where you would reasonably expect such use or disclosure. These include:

  • to communicate with you in relation to your application,
  • to comply with any legal or regulatory obligations,
  • to monitor and review the University's recruitment practices, and
  • for planning purposes.

The information collected through the eRecruitment process may be disclosed to the education institutions you have attended for verification of your qualifications. Information may also be disclosed to:

  • your nominated referees, and
  • the University's legal advisers or other professional advisers and consultants engaged by the University.

In submitting your application, you may provide the University with the personal information of others (eg. the names and contact details of your referees). In this you are encouraged to inform them that:

  • you are disclosing that information to the University,
  • if you are the successful candidate, the information will be retained and become part of your employment records, and
  • they can access that information by contacting the Director, Human Resources.

If your application is successful, the University will retain your information which will become part of your employment records. If your application is unsuccessful, the University will retain your information on the e-recruitment system. The University may use this information to assess your suitability for other employment opportunities with the University. If all of the information requested is not provided, it may not be possible for the University to consider your application for employment.

You have a right to access personal information that the University holds about you, subject to any exceptions in relevant legislation.
