SMEC's Online Job Application Policy

 

When you sign up to SMEC's job vacancy website SMEC collects more specific personal information about you, such as your name, email address and telephone number, qualifications or career history. SMEC may also ask you for other information, such as information on your interests and the types of jobs you are interested in.

We collect this information in order to assess your suitability for the job/s you apply for and positions within the SMEC group of companies generally and it is stored in electronic format on our database for the purpose of building a talent pool of prospective candidates for jobs based on profile matches. We will only use or process this information for those purposes.

 

By registering a profile on our recruitment database and electing to receive job mail, you are opting to receive email notification of jobs that match the personal preferences you selected. A CV submission forms part of your application.  You may register for job mail anonymously if required using your email address only.

You agree that we may store this information in either printed or electronic form.

At any time, you may access your account to update your profile and / or CV ensuring the information SMEC holds about you is complete, accurate and up to date.

 

If an offer of employment is made, you may be required to supply or undertake background checks and you will be required to provide verification of your qualifications and if applicable, professional registrations. If you provide us with the personal information of others (such as referees), we encourage you to inform them:

·        That you are disclosing that information to SMEC and why

·        That they can access that information if they wish

·        That SMEC does not usually disclose the information to third parties

·        That we may store their information in either printed or electronic form.

SMEC may also disclose the personal information you provide to us via the SMEC job vacancy website to SMEC HR practitioners, SMEC Hiring Managers, and to SMEC's recruitment advisors for the purpose of considering you for career opportunities with SMEC.  

Please note that any person to whom SMEC may disclose your personal information under this Online Job Application Policy may be situated in a country other than your own and that such country may not provide an adequate level data protection.  By agreeing to this Online Job Application Policy, you consent to the transfer of your personal information to a country other than your own.

It is your responsibility to keep your login and password details private to prevent unauthorised access. At any time, you may access your account to update, make new applications, activate or deactivate your registration for job mail or to remove your account entirely from our records. On request, you may also seek access to information retained by SMEC that was used. There will be occasions however, where access is denied. Such occasions would include where access would have an unreasonable impact on the privacy of others or would reveal evaluative information generated within SMEC. We will not disclose this information to a third party, except as outlined above, without your consent or unless required to do so by the law.
