Please read carefully. World Vision Australia (WVA) collects and uses personal information (including sensitive information) when you make an application for employment, create a profile, or elect to receive job mail. The information we collect will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

By submitting a job application or registering your interest in employment you are consenting to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described below.  The provision of your details is entirely voluntary, however WVA cannot process your application for employment if you choose not to provide them.

How will your personal information be collected

WVA and third-party providers acting on WVA’s behalf collect your personal information (including sensitive information) for the purposes of assessing your suitability for employment.

 You will be asked to provide your name, email, contact details, a resume and other personal information that can help WVA match your interests and skills. If you elect to receive job mail, you are opting to receive email notification of jobs that match the personal preferences you selected. During our recruitment process, WVA or third parties acting on WVA’s behalf may conduct some or all of the following pre- employment screening checks, which may require additional information (including sensitive information about your criminal and medical history):

  • Confirmation of education and/or previous employment
  • Reference checks
  • Bankruptcy
  • Criminal History
  • Professional memberships
  • Directorship search
  • Company checks

During our recruitment process, WVA or third parties acting on WVA’s behalf may search and/or access public available information/data about you.

WVA participates in the Inter-Agency Misconduct Disclosure Scheme. Under this Scheme, we may request information from your previous employers within the last 5 years about findings or ongoing investigations of sexual abuse, sexual exploitation and/or sexual harassment during your employment.

How will WVA use your information and to whom will it be disclosed

Your Personal Information is used to determine your suitability for the role for which you have applied or to send job alerts for those individuals who have registered to receive them, or to match individuals to a potential role in which they may be interested. Publicly available information/data about you may be considered when determining suitability. The information will be disclosed to the WVA recruitment team, selection panel, and other authorised WVA staff or third party representatives who form part of the recruitment process.

Applicants invited to become part of the WVA Talent Pool will have their personal information included on an electronic database and may be contacted for potential employment opportunities which match their recruitment profile. The personal information of individuals who elect not to participate in the Talent Pool will be archived until all legal requirements for records retention have been met and then deleted. Individuals whose records have been archived will need to re-register for any new opportunities. Talent Pool participants can withdraw their consent to be included at any time.

If your application is successful, the information collected about you during the application process and subsequent electronic onboarding through the online application system will be used to commence your employment. The information will be transferred to WVA’s employment system and be managed in accordance with WVA’s internal Privacy Policy available to all WVA employees.

WVA will not disclose your personal information without your consent, unless required or authorised by law.

How can you access or correct your personal information

At any time, you may access your account to update or correct, make new applications, activate, or deactivate your registration for job mail or to request deletion of your account from our records. On request, you may also request access to the personal information WVA holds. If you are unable to remember your details, you can use the forgotten password option. Keeping your information safe

Your personal information will be retained in a secure online database with access provided only to authorised WVA staff and third-party providers acting on WVA’s behalf.

Anonymity

You may register for job mail anonymously if required using email address only.
